We were made to be free!

God tells the story of the genesis of life at the very beginning of the Holy Bible. He wants us to know He made all things good when He made all creation. In contrast , the book of Wisdom 1:13 explains the genesis of death when it says,

“God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.
For he fashioned all things that they might have being;
and the creatures of the world are wholesome,
and there is not a destructive drug among them
nor any domain of the netherworld on earth,
for justice is undying.
For God formed man to be imperishable;
the image of his own nature he made him.
But by the envy of the devil, death entered the world,
and they who belong to his company experience it.”

Humans who are ignorant of God’s goodness and purpose for us believe God created bad things such as death and some have even lost their faith over it. People tend to blame God of the evils in the world. It has not occurred to them that the enemy is not God ,but instead Satan and that when we commit sin we mingle with the fallen angels. When we sin we deviate from God’s plan. When we deviate from God’s plan we live in bondage because sin leads to death and there is no escape from it apart from Jesus.

In order to understand the constant restlessness and the need to escape something ,we must be aware of and understand God’s original plan for us because it is the key that opens the door to what true freedom is. In God we find our purpose, we find hope, peace, faith, kindness, love, and eternal life. We are restless because we live in exile away from our true Home and purpose with God. We have our conscience telling us that the world today as we see it is not the way it is supposed to be…we know deep inside it is not the way God originally made it. Without Jesus and without the knowledge of God’s love and plan for us , escape may take the form of using drugs to numb the painful memories of sin caused by others or self, it could be an adulterous affair to escape the feeling of being unloved, a lustful glance to imitate authentic love,  it could be the reaching for material goods to fill an emptiness in oneself , or self pity which causes an attempt at suicide. The enemy wishes to deviate our understanding of God’s plan for us so that we may  live in dread and fear for our future and to see death in all forms, such as, death of our joy, death of our family, death of our faith ,death of our careers , until finally the evil one mocks and discourages our final attempt to cheat death by calling on the name of Christ. Christ is the only one who can truly free us from our chains.

It is truly He who can set us captives free. The book of Jeremiah states,” For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

 True Freedom is found only in Jesus Christ our savior. We were made to be free.
